This toy circular saw dates from 1979, and was manufactured in Hong Kong for the American company Lanard Toys.
Pulling the handle makes the friction drive turn, with a vaguely realistic engine noise. The best part is when you pretend to saw through something. As soon as the pretend plastic blade on the underside is deflected by coming into contact with the table, a fairly convincing sawing noise starts, which only stops when you lift the saw from the table.
The use of a small amount of sawdust could add to the effect that you are indeed sawing through the table!
