Shipping within the UK
Provided that we receive your order by 1pm on a normal weekday, there is a good chance that we will ship the same day. When we ship your order, we also send you a confirmation e-mail, which tells you that your order has been shipped. Our default method of shipping is Royal Mail First Class Post. However you can also choose Royal Mail Special Delivery. This normally guarantees delivery on the next working day (i.e. Monday to Friday) by 1pm. A signature will be required on delivery.
For normal First Class Post deliveries, you can leave specific instructions in the 'Shipping Information' box, when you place your order. We will attach these instructions to the front of your package, for example 'If no answer, leave in the shed in the garden', etc. Please note that this will not work if you choose the Royal Mail Special Delivery service, as a signature will be required on delivery. If you want your order to be delivered to your workplace or to any different address than your home address, there is a box that you tick when placing the order, which gives you the option of having a different delivery address to your billing address.
Shipping outside the UK
We ship to most countries in the world. When you enter your address on the website, if you can add your country, then we ship there! Our default method of shipping is by Air Mail. The Royal Mail here in the UK quote the following delivery times. Delivery to Western Europe within three days and Eastern Europe within five working days. Delivery to the rest of the world in five to seven working days. However once the package leaves the UK, it will be handled by the postal services in your country. We do find that sometimes it can take longer than the quoted times for items to arrive.
You can also choose the International Signed For option. This still travels by Air Mail, and will be delivered by the postal services in your country. A signature will be required on delivery. The target time for this service is three working days to Western Europe, four working days to Eastern Europe and five working days for the rest of the world. We can provide a tracking number, however the Royal Mail website can only track the item while it is in the UK. Once it leaves the UK, it will depend on the postal service in your country whether you can track the parcel online. This service is available to all countries. Please note that this is an upmarket mail service, not a courier service.
We also offer the Airsure service, however this is currently only available in certain countries. If it is available in your country, you will see Airsure as an option. There is priority handling, and it can arrive a day earlier than regular Air Mail, although this is not guaranteed. While there is online confirmation of delivery, there is NO REQUIREMENT FOR A SIGNATURE ON DELIVERY, so if you need an urgent package delivered to your home and there is a danger that there will be no-one there to sign for it, this might be the service for you. Again this is an enhanced Air Mail service, it is not a courier service.
Sending items by courier, especially abroad, is very expensive. For example, a small packet sent by DHL to the USA is likely to cost at least GBP25. The advantage of course is that the service is fast, and the package can be tracked the whole way. If you wish to have your package sent by courier, please contact us and we will quote you a price. If you place a very large order with us, we will sometimes upgrade you to a courier service at no extra charge. We will let you know if we do this, as a signature will be required on delivery.
Sending Items Abroad by Surface Mail
We have started offering Surface Mail to a few coutries - USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Please note that while this service is cheaper than Air Mail, it can take much longer. Quoted times to North America are around 6 weeks, and 12 weeks to Australasia. In our experience, Surface Mail can sometimes be much quicker than this, but you should not assume that this will always be the case.
When we send packages within the EU, there will be no customs charges or other duties payable in the destination country. However when we ship items outside the EU, then the package will need to pass through customs in the destination country. All countries have their own rules and regulations, and it is your responsibility to pay any customs duties that are levied in your country. Normally if the value of the contents is less than a certain amount, you will not be charged customs. If you want to know what the threshold is when you will start to pay customs duties, please check with the customs department in your own country for advice.
