Plastic Money

While traditionally banknotes were made of paper, in recent years a number of countries, such as Australia and New Zealand, have started using plastic banknotes, which allows for a neat little trick - if you can afford it!

if you place the bank note in a warm oven (gas Regulo 4, or 190 degrees centigrade) for a few minutes, the plastic banknote will shrink to about one tenth of its original size.

So while you can leave plastic banknotes in your pocket if you go surfing, maybe you need to be careful if you stand too close to the barbeque!
