Some years ago I travelled by sleeper train from Singapore, up though Malaysia, finally arriving in Bangkok the following morning. As we approached Bangkok I remember that people, houses and food stalls were all around the train, but I would never have seen what this video shows!
Bangkok is one of the world's largest cities, and parts of it are fairly crowded, to say the least! This video shows a market that displays a remarkable insouciance to the fact that a major railway line runs right through the middle of the market! The train passes slowly though the market, with just inches to spare on each side. However as soon as the train has passed, the market expands back across the track. Awnings swing into place, trays of vegetables - seemingly on wheels - slide forwards, and with 30 seconds the train tracks have vanished under the teeming market place. Until the time the next train is due!
