Scala Biro

Scala Biro

There is an interesting story behind this biro. The biro was designed and made in Germany by the Berendsohn company, in about 1996. What is interesting is the name Scala on the side. Scala was a restaurant in Belgium, in Destel-Bergen, on the outskirts of Antwerp. It recently closed after nearly 20 years in business. It was run by Eric, who was a great lover of tricks and practical jokes, many of which he played on his customers.

There were jets of air that blew on you from under the table just as you sat down, all sorts of practical jokes that could be brought to the table, a mirror in one corner with a hidden camera, so you could suddenly find that the whole restaurant was watching you admring yourself in the mirror! The food was quite good too!

Anyway this pen was obviously made as a special item for the restaurant, hence the name Scala on the side.
