One of the many toys that took their inspiration from space travel and exploration. This toy dates from the late 1980s, and was made in Taiwan.
We found it in a British Toy Fair, but we are not sure whether it ever made it into the shops here. Certainly we never saw it.
Many toys have a reversing mechanism for when they hit obstacles - this one is nice and simple, and therefore pretty robust! When the Lander hits an obstacle, it flips over, which presses one of the levers that stick out from the side. This causes the direction the wheels are driven in to reverse.
