Magnetic Field Pattern Window

This newly re-designed Magnetic Field Pattern Window allows magnetic fields to be visualised.

There are two sheets of plastic which have iron particles floating in vegetable oil between them. Two large magnets and two small ones are included in the kit, plus a set of instructions.

The window has a rubber edge to absorb any impacts and prevent the plastic window from breaking too easily. You can place magnets against the underside of the window, or on top of the window. You can observe static patterns if you keep the window horizontal. If the window is held vertically, you can observe the particles falling under the influence of a magnetic field.

There are two versions. In one version the rear plastic sheet is white, which shows off the iron particles very clearly. In the other version, the rear sheet is transparent, which allows the window to be placed on an overhead projector, or maybe have a bright light shone though it to give a larger image on a wall.
