Magic Mirror Pendant

We have known about these Magic Mirror Pendants before, but this is the first time we have managed to get hold of any. The little pendant is gold coloured (not gold!) and has a small ring at the top, so it can be threaded on a chain or a string.

On the front is an image which in the past we have described as a Buddha, but which we believe now to be Guan-Yin, the Goddess of Compassion and Caring, and one of the Four Supreme Bodhisattvas of Chinese Buddhism. She usually holds a lotus blossom or a willow twig, and a vase containing heavenly dew or the nectar of immortality.

On the back of the pendant, the surface is a metal mirror, completely smooth. Yet when you hold it up to the sunlight and project the reflection onto a shaded surface, in the reflection you see the image of Guan-Yin.

The pendant is 31mm high, and 22mm across, and comes in a little Chinese presentation box. The most amazing thing about it is the cost - we have managed to get a stock of these at a remarkably low price.
