Welcome to the Illusion Gallery
Optical illusions have an almost universal fascination. And one of the things that is really intriguing is that they can be appreciated by people of all ages, even young children. And yet they are also the subject of study in university psychology departments, since they provide an insight into the complexities of human vision.
We have assembled some of our favourite illusions in the gallery. Welcome...
This illusion, called 'Brain Activity', has black nodes where the lines intersect. However when seen in the peripheral vision, the 'neurons' appear to scintillate either red or white. However this is an illusion. Created by Akiyoshi Kitaoka, who is a Professor in the Department of Psychology, Ritsumeiken University, Kyoto, Japan.
We have recently updated our web site, and some of the older content can be found in the ARCHIVE.
