There is a chain of 4 or 5 shops around Tokyo, called Tokyu Hands, selling amazing toys and novelties. Many of the things that you find there can never be found outside Japan. This toy was bought in 1986, and came in a tin can. When you open the can, there are 5 or 6 plastic parts, which can be simply slotted together to form a very simple record player
It comes with a selection of records, although they are all in Japanese!
Fit the pieces together, pop the record on the turntable, turn the handle, and .... hey presto, a working record player, with a surprising amount of volume!
